Hurrican Irma - Stay safe, please!

I am thinking about you and all my customers and friends in Tampa Bay wishing you a safe weekend. I am sure, it will not come to the worst - we have a reputation for being spared by hurricanes, did you know that?

​So far, every really bad storm since 1921 has missed or turned around- remember the one that hit Punta Gorda some years ago? It was predicted to crash into Tampa Bay for sure and then it made a right turn and hit the poor people down there. Not better of course, but it goes to show that we have had a lucky break and this was not the last one!

I have taken precautions for my family and if things really get out of hand, we will head to the Fort Harrison Hotel on Fort Harrison Avenue. They are an official shelter and have made room for 5.000 people. The hotel itself is booked solid but I heard that they bought over 5.000 sleeping bags and whatever else is needed to accommodate people in need. In case you don't know where to go, this is the nearest place I know of in downtown Clearwater. We are even allowed to bring your pets!

That's really good, since we only recently adopted 2 kittens that were rescued and fostered by a very dedicated couple until they were old enough to find a home. My wife, being an "animal person", chose them as a surprise for my children and the kittens are with us now for a couple of weeks. Momo andTinkerbell are siblings and seem to be quite happy: When we come home they greet us with a perfectly synchronised, loud purr! ;-)
